Claudia Stack, Ed.M.
Stack's background includes a B.A. from St. John’s College (1988) and an M.E.d. from Harvard University (1992). She worked for over 25 years in education, with a focus on at-risk students. Stack began filmmaking in 2003, and began working with Dr. Newkirk in 2017. Her films have screened at festivals in major cities including London, Atlanta, and Detroit. Stack’s documentaries screened at many conferences, including the NTHP Rosenwald School conferences (2012 and 2015). Her documentary Sharecrop was featured at the National Council for Black Studies conference (2018). Stack and Newkirk have presented at high schools, universities, libraries, and other venues. Recent presentations include Wake Forest University, Iona College, and Harvard Club of the Research Triangle. Stack has published numerous articles and an award-winning children’s book about African American education heritage.
Richard T. Newkirk, Ed.D.
Newkirk’s background includes an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from University of La Verne (2004), an M.A. Degree in English from Southern Illinois University (1971), and a B.S Degree in English Education from North Carolina A&T State University (1969). He spent 40+ years in education with a focus on academic and co-curricular work to prepare diverse ethnic and socioeconomic populations for the work force, the military, undergraduate school and ultimately a career and/or profession in the present day world. Attendance from grades 1-5 at a Rosenwald School and my undergraduate training in a Historical Black University provided a solid foundation and forum from which I was able to be successful as a student and educator in Illinois, Maryland, California and North Carolina.
